Common Conditions Treated In A Pediatric Clinic

Posted on: 12 April 2021

How often do you take your child for growth monitoring and medical examination? Does your child have a recurring or a stubborn illness? If yes, do not wait for it to persist to visit a physician for a checkup. Most childhood diseases are prevented by vaccination. Here are some conditions that may require you to take your child to a pediatric clinic:

1. Abdominal pain

Children and infants may suffer from persistent abdominal pains. Overfeeding and excess gas can lead to stomach discomfort. Hunger and constipation are other reasons for sudden abdominal pains. Food poisoning upsets the stomach, too, and causes unexpected vomiting and diarrhea within hours of eating.

2. Allergy

Most children face a variety of allergies. The symptoms may appear as itchy eyes, sneezing, or skin reactions. Some allergies are genetic from family history. Foods like eggs, milk, peanuts, and milk products are common allergy triggers in children. As a parent, try to monitor the allergy symptoms and make an appointment with a physician.

3. Cold

Colds are the most common illness in children than any other disease. They are a result of upper respiratory infections. Common symptoms are sneezing, coughing, sore throat, and stuffy or running nose. Take your child to a pediatrician before the cold upgrades to high fever and respiratory distress.

4. Eye problems

If you notice strabismus in your child, consult a pediatric ophthalmologist for further diagnosis. Plants and pet dander produce irritants that can affect the eyes. The child's eyes may appear watery or irritated. Amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, results in optic sensitivity and affects the growth of vision. If you notice any of the problems, take your child to the clinic before it causes permanent vision problems.

5. Bronchiolitis

This condition commonly occurs in infants and children during cold seasons. It starts as a cold, then develops to wheezing and inflammation of the lungs. Bronchiolitis also causes breathing difficulties due to blocked airways in the lungs. Children under three months and those born prematurely are at a higher risk to contract the disease.

Every child is entitled to exclusive medical care. Pediatric clinics provide professional care to the children and share the parent's considerations, fears, and options with the parents. Ensure your child is receiving the best health care possible, and do not wait for the symptoms to persist before going to the clinic. Contact a pediatric physician for more information.
